Description

This course examines the role of illicit trade in the international system with a focus on its integration with other social, political, and economic processes. This class begins with an overview of the policy challenges associated with illicit trade and then examines a broad array of illicit trade activities. These activities include the drug trade, the arms trade, various forms of human trafficking, the trade in natural resources, and cyber-crime. Students should gain a knowledge of illicit trade broadly and its implications for international policymaking. Students will be expected to write policy related papers related to various illicit trade activities.Open to Austin W. Marxe School of Public and International Affairs students; others with Marxe School permission.
