Description
The course teaches students to conduct business effectively in a technology-based world. In the first part of the course, students learn to protect business innovations, intellectual property, and proprietary data from infringement, focusing on copyright, patent, and trade secrecy law. The second part of the course covers the ways in which businesses limit their exposure to lawsuits using contracts containing inter alia, waivers, exculpatory clauses, and limitations of liability. The last third of the course addresses compliance with laws and government regulation, especially the observance of data-privacy laws affecting information gathering,storing, using, and disseminating personal and private information about customers.
