This course introduces the basics of the cryptocurrencies and their applications. It starts by explaining the theoretical computer science behind the block chain technologies (hashing, digital signatures, distributed ledger, etc.) and moves on to discussing specific cryptocoins such as bitcoin, etherium and thether, and various important infrastructure issues such as cryptocurrency exchanges. A number of cryptocurrency linked derivatives and ETFs and their risks are discussed. Finally, issues of fraud detection and regulation in the world of cryptocurrencies are covered.
